The story opens with a funeral for her cousin Boom-Boom Warshawski, an ex-hockey player. VI mysteries are hard to put down. Apr 10, Leonard rated it really liked it. It seemed to take forever to get to the end for me. I cant say it was predictable or stunningly original, but I really enjoyed it and would read more of the V.

In the investigation, two more people died because of her investigation on who killed her cousin which is why I gave this book only 4 stars instead of one because this is the part that I don’t really understand why did they die because the way they die is a bit stupid.

Everything was kind of obvious to me. Vic is frequently seeking out pay phones, and checking in with her answering service! The other part of my confusion and a huge part of the mystery about shipping and legality.

It is also kind of funny to read books set in an era I can remember. I do enjoy a mystery series that can keep me guessing and surprised. Warshawski offers a thrill a minute as the murders pile up and Vic herself is in the crosshairs of unknown bad guys.
