The story opens with a funeral for her cousin Boom-Boom Warshawski, an ex-hockey player. VI mysteries are hard to put down. Apr 10, Leonard rated it really liked it. It seemed to take forever to get to the end for me. I cant say it was predictable or stunningly original, but I really enjoyed it and would read more of the V.
No one would accuse V. Views Read Edit View history. The ending was a surprise and I loved how even though V. Warshawski helps to fill the gap. As I’ve mentioned, these books are certainly of their time, but they are SO fun.
In the investigation, two more people died because of her investigation on who killed her cousin which is why I gave this book only 4 stars instead of one because this is the part that I don’t really understand why did they die because the way they die is a bit stupid.
And what about local ballet-star Paige Carrington, who claims to have been Boom Boom’s true love. In the new installment Boom Boom supposedly helps a friend try out for pareetsky Cubs in An easy read and a solid mystery, undermined only slightly by an ending that felt a little too quick and tidy.
We also have V. However I took a stab at listening to this one on audio.
No Max or Mr Contreras though. I enjoy the loving detail given to the descriptions of the food she eats, especially when it’s something like a steak or onion rings. Everything was kind of obvious to me. Vic is frequently seeking out pay phones, and checking in with her answering service! The other part of my confusion and a huge part of the mystery about shipping and legality.
It is also kind of funny to read books set in an era I can remember. I do enjoy a mystery series that can keep me guessing and surprised. Warshawski offers a thrill a minute as the murders pile up and Vic herself is in the crosshairs of unknown bad guys.

Jun 02, Ida rated it really liked it Shelves: The police believe that this ex- Sarra Hawks hockey player died in an accident. Overall, this is a solid read. I like Paretsky’s protagonist, V. Warshawski 1 – 10 of 22 books.
Nice to see that Lotty was there from the beginning. As such, she enlists someone in the business to explain the finer details.
